**Season 4 live taping** You're invited to join Baratunde and Sam Rader, PhD for a live Zoom conversation and audience Q&A on January 12th, 11:30 am PT/2:30 pm PT. They’ll discuss how our internal lives shape how we show up in the world, and share strategies for citizen-ing on a deeper level.
How To Citizen with Baratunde is a podcast where we reimagine "citizen" as a verb and remember how to wield our collective power.

How To Citizen with Baratunde reimagines the word “citizen” as a verb and reminds us how to wield our collective power. So many of us want to do more in response to the problems we hear about constantly, but where and how to participate can leave us feeling overwhelmed and helpless. Voting, while critically important, simply isn’t enough. It takes more to make this experiment in self-governance work. Listen in to learn new perspectives and practices from people working to improve society for the many. Join writer, host, producer, and activist Baratunde Thurston on a journey beyond politics as usual that will leave us all more hopeful, connected, and moved to act.
Baratunde Thurston is an Emmy-nominated, multi-platform storyteller and producer operating at the intersection of race, tech, democracy, and climate. After 18 years as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Sam Rader left the field to create Source Code and the Coping Styles — a new way of approaching growth and evolution. Dr. Sam believes that in our first five years of life, our early experience writes a code in our unconscious, which then determines the way that our story unfolds. She helps people rewrite their code for a healthier, more beautiful life. The practice of Source Code is more quantum than mental, more spiritual and energetic than psychological. It focuses on the symbolic landscape that lives beneath and informs all our daily concrete circumstances. Dr. Sam is authoring a book on the 12 Coping Styles we adopt during childhood, which helped us then and hurt us now, and how we can heal. She believes that with enough support, good boundaries, and real love, we are all capable of becoming who we really are.
